The energy transformation taking place in a Thermocouple is:
- (a)Heat energy to electrical energy
- (b)Heat energy to mechanical energy
- (c)Electrical energy to heat energy
- (d)Electrical energy to mechanical energy

Heat energy to electrical energy
Reason — A thermocouple is made by joining two wires of different metals so as to form two junctions. When one junction is kept hot and the other is kept cold, a current begins to flow in the circuit. Thus the heat energy supplied at the hot junction is converted into electrical energy.
