Given matrix A = $$\begin{bmatrix} 2 & 3 \\ 1 & 2 \end{bmatrix}$$ and matrix B = [2 −4]. Product AB is a matrix of order:

Show SolutionHide Solution↓

For AB to exist :

Number of columns in A = Number of rows in B

Order of matrix A = 2 × 2

Order of matrix B = 1 × 2

Columns in A = 2

Rows in B = 1

∴ Product AB is not possible.

Hence, option 4 is the correct option.
